Abstract
The rapid evolution of wireless communication systems demands high data rates, spectral efficiency, and robust signal detection mechanisms. Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems have emerged as a cornerstone technology to meet these requirements, yet their computational complexity remains a significant challenge, particularly in real-time hardware implementations. QR decomposition plays a critical role in MIMO detection algorithms, but conventional implementations incur substantial computational overhead due to matrix operations. This paper proposes an optimized CORDIC-based QR decomposition method tailored for high-performance MIMO systems, integrating hardware-efficient design principles with algorithmic simplification. The proposed approach leverages the iterative nature of the Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer (CORDIC) algorithm to minimize multipliers and reduce latency, making it highly suitable for FPGA and VLSI implementations. A structured methodology is developed incorporating architectural optimization, pipeline strategies, and precision control mechanisms. The results demonstrate improved computational efficiency, reduced hardware complexity, and enhanced throughput compared to traditional approaches. Furthermore, the study critically evaluates system-level trade-offs, including accuracy, latency, and resource utilization. The findings contribute to the advancement of hardware-accelerated MIMO detection systems and provide a scalable framework for future high-speed communication technologie.
