Abstract

The rapid evolution of fifth-generation (5G) communication systems has intensified the demand for highly compact, high-performance, and efficient millimeter-wave (mmWave) components. Among these, bandpass filters (BPFs) play a critical role in ensuring signal integrity, selectivity, and interference mitigation. This research presents an optimized design framework for compact three-dimensional (3D) monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) bandpass filters utilizing meander resonator structures. The study integrates advanced electromagnetic modeling, multilayer fabrication techniques, and design optimization strategies to achieve superior miniaturization and enhanced performance characteristics. The proposed framework incorporates meander-type resonators to reduce footprint while maintaining high Q-factor and selectivity, supported by analytical modeling and simulation-based validation. Comparative evaluation with existing MMIC and microstrip filter architectures demonstrates improvements in bandwidth control, insertion loss reduction, and stopband attenuation. The framework also explores the role of multilayer coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures and their interaction with 3D integration techniques. Results indicate that the proposed architecture effectively meets the stringent requirements of 5G mmWave systems. This work contributes to the advancement of scalable, high-density RF front-end design and provides insights into future integration of intelligent optimization techniques within microwave filter design.
