Abstract

The rapid expansion of Industry 4.0 technologies has intensified the convergence of cyber-physical systems (CPS), digital twin architectures, artificial intelligence, and industrial automation platforms. Although digital twins have substantially improved predictive monitoring, adaptive manufacturing, and intelligent automation, current frameworks remain constrained by interoperability deficiencies, fragmented standardization approaches, and limited resilience against uncertain operational disruptions. Simultaneously, generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) introduces new opportunities for autonomous reasoning, synthetic data generation, intelligent optimization, and adaptive decision-making within CPS ecosystems. This paper develops a research-oriented and standardization-aligned framework integrating generative artificial intelligence with digital twin architectures to strengthen cyber-physical system resilience. The study synthesizes existing research on CPS modeling, digital twin technologies, fault-tolerant architectures, intelligent manufacturing systems, and formal verification methodologies. A comprehensive literature-driven methodology is proposed to establish an integrated conceptual architecture composed of sensing, data fusion, simulation, generative reasoning, adaptive control, resilience assessment, and standardization layers. The framework emphasizes interoperability, fault tolerance, semantic consistency, predictive adaptation, and lifecycle synchronization across industrial and healthcare-oriented CPS environments. Analytical findings demonstrate that generative AI-enhanced digital twins improve operational continuity, intelligent diagnostics, dynamic adaptation, and autonomous resilience management. The paper further examines implementation constraints involving explainability, computational overhead, standard harmonization, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and data governance. The proposed model contributes to ongoing research by establishing a theoretically grounded and practically scalable framework suitable for resilient industrial automation, smart manufacturing, healthcare monitoring, and distributed intelligent systems.
