Abstract

Cerebral hemodynamics in the context of embolic ischemic stroke remains a critical determinant of neurological outcome. This study presents a technical investigation of mean arterial pressure (MAP) effects on cerebral arteries using a lumped parameter modeling approach. The model integrates cardiac input dynamics, arterial compliance, and cerebrovascular autoregulation to simulate pressure and flow variations across major cerebral arteries under ischemic conditions. Key findings indicate that MAP deviations significantly influence cerebral perfusion, particularly in the presence of vascular obstructions or atrial fibrillation-induced variability. The lumped parameter framework provides computational efficiency while retaining physiologically relevant fidelity, enabling predictive insights into stroke progression and potential therapeutic interventions. This work validates the utility of reduced-order models for clinical hemodynamic assessment and contributes to precision cerebrovascular management strategies (Bateman & Bateman, 2024).
